RICH DON’T WORK FOR MONEY

light-bulb-moment-2615457_640.jpg

Definition of rich is literally and simply that of do you work for the money or does the money work for you. Being rich isn’t defined by the amount of money you have, but by the way that you are using the money what you have. In the way you think about the money is the way you use the money.

Being rich is mindset and behavior of money use.

Rich people do not work for the money, they make money work for them.

To make money work for you, you have to recognize few essential terms. First there is income, which is all the money that is coming in. Then there are expenses, which are all the money that are going out of your pocket.

Next two are a little bit more difficult: assets are all the things you own that bring you income (after expenses). Liabilities are all the things that cost you money time and time again.

Essentially becoming rich is about acquiring assets and getting rid of liabilities. Once you have enough assets you have regular income, which is called cash flow. When you have sufficient amount of cash flow per month, let’s say 2000 € and your liabilities are at zero you are pretty well covered.

In order to get and create assets your greatest asset is your mind. Invest in yourself and your learning.

“Study hard so you can find a good company to buy.” – Robert Kiyosaki, Rich Dad Poor Dad

I might add work and study hard in order to find or create a good company to buy.

What ever you are doing in your life, do it to learn more. Do not let the money entice you, remember who is the master and who is the servant. Money is your servant and you are the master. Therefore always work to learn.

Always speak kindly of the money as well. Money will come to those who will speak kindly of it. Who would like to work for a bad master?

As you learn all the time quicker and quicker. You’ll learn creative ways to create more money out of nothing. This is where all your learning is aimed at.

At first you’ve little or nothing and you are not asking for any money. You are not asking for any money, because you are not the servant of money. You are the master of money who is learning the ways of the money. The more you learn the ways of the money, the more you’ll make the money work for you. The more you master money, the more opportunities will come to your way.

Remember: be the master of money. To master money, you’ll need to learn, learn and learn. Learn everything about the money and speak kindly of it. Perhaps some money will come to your way and you will be grateful for it. For now you know, it will work for you as long as you’ll remember to take good care of it.

Batching and Chunking Down the Work

meadow-2225250_640.jpg

Batch the similar tasks to a greater slots.

Chunk the difficult tasks into easier tasks.

Sounds simple, yet to masterfully do this through the day is what shows at the end of the day as productivity.

I’ve noticed that the essentially chunking and simplifying the work is one of the most important phases when dividing the work for others. Work has to be as simple as it gets, then it’s easier for the cognition. Usually the easier the work the faster it’s done.

Essential question to improve the work flow is to ask why this needs to be done. Five why’s drill into the core of the need and when we are at the core we chunk down effectively the tasks core purpose. When we have clear purpose in mind, we can effectively batch the most important works together as well.

Solution orientated communication

connect-20333_640.jpg

Solution orientation is often heard, less practiced.

Masterful way to practice solutions orientation would mean ability to produce three possible solutions to any given situation and then give recommendation of choice of these three.

It sounds easier than it is, as situations in life come and go quick. Therefore it is a skill that falls into “lifetime to master” -category.

What I find interesting about solutions orientation is that the attitude of challenging status quo and courageously bringing something better into the present moment.

Therefore solutions orientated attitude is not only about communication, but also about creativity and ability to create social value for others.

How are you going to create more value through solutions oriented attitude in your encounters, today, next week and next month?

Use Negative Swing to Create Positive Momentum

wintry-2068298_640.jpg

Power of perspectives is so powerful, you can literally turn anything upside down and build upon the momentum. This applies in good and in bad. Usually people would rather have more of the good and less of the bad.

It’s completely within our power to decide how each event will serve us: is it a lesson or a burden. Masters find the lesson in everything and everyone. It’s sure to be there, if you look deep enough.

Then use those lessons to create habits.

Use those habits to create combinations of habits that shape your days.

Use those days to make your dreams reality.

Do More, Beleive Less

cycling-1533270_640.jpg

In the context of professional work, we ought to simply practice more.

Robert Greene sums it up well 1) practice, practice, practice 2) learn from the masters of the field 3) transfigure, make the thing your own.

It’s rather easy, except the practice part takes at least 10 000 hours. If you are really committed you do not measure it in time, but the times you do. Masters always find room for more practice, more improvement.

Study the masters: do more.

When it comes to believing, our minds easily find a hundreds reasons to do or not to do if we go into that. How about we would just do what we want to do?

Practice what we have set out to do without any other thoughts. Learning to let go of what can be done, what is possible and instead just try to do your best without attachment to the result. Then keep on improving that result, because of course if you are doing your best and you are learning, your results are improving. Results give the feedback of improvement after all, if there is no improvement in results you are not improving, so you are still learning 🙂

Do more, get more results and do not let your beliefs hold you back.

Growth. Something in physical terms would mean to increase in size or mass. In emotional terms it would probably means mature response versus immature response. In spiritual terms, I don’t know. In intellectual terms it would perhaps mean better performance in a quiz or test.

Around 2007 I found the idea of conscious growth from Steve Pavlina’s blog and around 2009 I think I’ve been practicing daily.

Growth is always in relation to who are and where we want to be. We cannot compare ourselves to anyone else and we shouldn’t. Bill Gates would have said that comparing yourself to anyone else is an insult to yourself.

To grow then, we would need an understanding of our present state, to understand that we are but in the beginning of our journey.

To grow, we need to accept that we are all beginners. Masters are the masters at this skill, humility.

Humility opens up the mind for learning. So the way to grow is to start a fresh.

Good luck!

Everyday Practice to Benefit Others

sunset-3087288_640.jpg

What I like about Buddhist thinking, is the idea of non-attachment and selfless service for others. Also in order to serve others, one must first learn to take care of oneself, which is not an easy task. In fact taking care of oneself becomes an everyday responsibility, because even when one learns the skillful way to deal with anything that occurs, one must also keep on sustaining that habit. Sustaining is the daily practice, that is why masters train every day.

If we want to be the masters of our own lives, we should start to practice also taking care of ourselves every day. Once we overcome our own anxiousness and confusion, we can finally start truly benefitting others as well.

In everyday practice, we must first each morning take care of our own unskillful thinking and then we can turn our practice into selfless service of others, I think this is suitable enough philosophy for a layperson.

Reasons for the ‘best’ way to be helpful diverge after the point has been made that we might need to take care of ourselves first, that’s why we have different philosophies, different branches of Buddhism and even different forms of service.

Almost any rule is a simplification and thus cannot be fully applied. In the sales profession it is necessary to prioritize the needs of others from your current position. However, the Buddhist could argue that one might benefit all the people more, if you first would take the time to reach enlightenment yourself and then remain in this world and help people. Such people are called bodhisattvas and it is certainly interesting perspective.

In my current thinking, combining ideas from many sources and philosophies, I think the taking care of your own thinking in the morning and then retaining skillful practice through the day is a sufficient way for the layperson to progress. You make your life your practice by not attaching to the fruits of your labor. This kind of selfless service idea is strong in Bhagavad Gita and Zen schools of thought and I think it is rather practical philosophy.

Preparation Makes the Show

shoes-1917927_640.jpg

In life, if you focus to what is important then you’ve important and urgent things and what remains are important and not urgent things. The not important box is about preparing for something important.

Preparation makes the moments possible.

Do you feel prepared?

How do you prepare?

Masters never fail to prepare. It’s as much part of the show than is the show itself.

Happy Way to Get What You Want In Life

positive-2257693_640.jpg

Think for a moment, what it is you want in life? Let’s say next three years. Set an audacious goal.

Isn’t it so that you probably have to face some kind of adversity in order to get that? If it was anything daring, out of your current level of competence, this is definitely case. Audacious goals are audacious and meaningful exactly because they are just beyond our current level of operating.  Does what you what bring happiness or just gratification to you? Make sure to pursue the kind of goal that brings something more lasting than the instant gratification.

Okay now we have an audacious goal in three years, what are you going to do now towards that? Crawling millimeter by millimeter towards the goal is the key to the success as I wrote in the Climb.

Also another trick towards being more productive and getting to your goal even more sure AND feeling happier now is being happy now. Well while of course that won’t happen just because I tell you so, here are some ideas to get a boost in your both present and long term happiness:

  • Giving
  • Sharing
  • Kindness
  • Gratitude
  • Going extra mile to smile

That which we focus upon grows. That’s why I am always looking opportunities to help, give and share. I’ve been writing gratitude’s to my journal, actually anything positive. My favorite addition to my routine this fall to start giving positive feedback, so now I try to use every opportunity to do that as well.

So now you have an audacious goal, that is probably connected to your bigger purpose. Give your daily tasks your everything, you are surely to develop very good at them. Crawl forward and remember to be happy first 🙂

Master the Materials

books-1283923_640.jpg

Reading quality sources increases our awareness quicker than pure action does. This quality of information is transformed into awareness, which then should be transformed into action as well. Action then in turn provides feedback and experience from which we can build a solid foundation for wisdom.

What is quality information? As example, books that have passed through the filters of many and are recommended by many and the message of the book is relevant to us at the moment.

This is because well researched and written book is certainly standing on the shoulders of giants. There are discoveries, upon discoveries presented there in very thoughtful manner. When you are reading such book, you will know from the first pages and lines that this is a material to be studied for a lifetime.

The more you read, the more aware you become. By starting to have conversation with the quality material you will deepen your bond with the knowledge, and make it easier for yourself to apply the knowledge and wisdom daily. You will start to master the material, eventually becoming master yourself.
